My baby is growing. :) He sleeps a lot, eats a lot, purrs like a kitten and twitters like a bird. He has a double crown on the back of his head, and one side of his face is fatter than the other. :)
Food and other important things. :)

Normal happenings, baby preparation.
So much for resolving to post more often. I am still not being very faithful on here.
We are getting ready for this baby who is supposed to be coming in 15 days. I think that I am ready for him/her. We bought a playpen/bed and a car seat and have them all clean and set up. I have all my newborn clothes and diapers washed and put where they need to be. I still haven't bought any clothes for him/her, but I don't know which gender to buy yet so..... that will wait till afterwards. I have 5 nightgowns, 4 pairs of socks, and lots of undershirts. That will have to do for the first week or two. I have at least one supper in the freezer and some brownies and cookies (my freezer isn't big enough to put too much in there though). Susan is coming in 17 days..... I am pretty excited about that. The kids would be too, but I haven't exactly told them.
The weather is nice, temperature ranges from 2 or 3* to 18* today. I try to make the kids spend at least an hour running around the back yard in the sun, and they sometimes bike to the park with Papa after supper (A and I walk). We found a bike shop in town that sells second hand bikes and parts. We bought bikes at Value Village, and fixed them all up for the kids. So now they have bikes.
The rabbits that run around the back yard some evenings are no longer white. They are brown now. The lawns that have grass are starting to be greener. At least half of the yards in our neighbourhood don't have grass yet, they are just dirt. We got a bbq off of freecycle, and found a propane tank on kijiji. I still need to scrub the bbq down, but that will happen today or tomorrow. Anyways, I need to get going, I want to get the laundry pile down to nothing, and maybe a few other things done, too, today. Have a good day all. Wendy

Chocolate prune bread.
Don't be shocked by the title, this is the absolute best bread ever. I had the recipe in a Bread book which I gave away when I moved, so I looked for something similar online. This one is pretty close. If you don't have the prunes you can use dried cranberries, or other dried fruit, and it will be acceptable. The prunes are really, really, incredibly good in here though. I like eating this bread cold with butter, toasted with peanut butter, or just about any other way. :) Have a good day all, bake something. :) Wendy

This that and nothing. ;)
Here I am again, I'm sitting in the sun in the living room. It is late afternoon, and I have sent the kids upstairs to run around and get some craziness out of their systems. W should be home from work soon. I am making some tacos for supper. In a few minutes I will have to roll out the tortillas, but in the meantime I am sitting. The kids have had a bad cold the last few days, and it's made them very grumpy/short tempered. I've been trying to combat that with some extra sleep but it doesn't seem to work. A went from a 3 hour afternoon nap to maybe an hour the past few days, so she is exhausted by suppertime. Have a good day all. Wendy

Babies, birthdays, moving, baking etc.
It has been a very long time since I have posted here. :) Baby A is going to be 2 next week, Baby #4 is planning on coming this coming May. We have moved across the country and now live in a subdivision in Alberta. As I am so far away from my friends and family I am going to try to update this blog more often.
Items of interest in the recent past include.... E lost 2 teeth a few weeks ago. The new ones were already halfway in before the old ones came out. She got 2 loonies from the tooth fairy. There is a rabbit that makes tracks in the snow in the backyards here, we saw it once. I haven't made a cake since last Thanksgiving. I did make cupcakes for Valentines Day though. They were chocolate with a light chocolate butter-cream to which I added little bits of score bar. The score bar made it hard to pipe the first day, the second day it was easier as they had melted a bit.
I am experimenting with sauerkraut. I have a jar of cabbage and carrot that I'm working on. I am also trying lacto-fermented carrot sticks. They have to sit for a couple of weeks so I don't know if they will be good yet. It is partially a way for me to get more probiotics (think yogurt bacteria) and it can improve the vitamin content of foods. I am hoping that I will be able to encourage the kids to eat them too. Today I am making a recipe of sourdough muffins. They use the sourdough instead of using buttermilk or soured milk. I'm hoping that they will be good. :)
